Iran is set to increase international internet bandwidth by 10 fold in the next 12 months

Netindex data shows, that in the past few years, the internet endusers in Iran had increasingly access to higher bandwidths. This also correlates with the new higher bandwidth plans provided by many ISPs in Iran, some of whom provide bandwidth up to 10 megabits per second now days. The new technocrat president and his ICT minister also mentioned repeatedly in the past year that existing internet connectivity is not what it should be for Iranians, and they promised time and again to increase the international bandwidth. From what our investigation shows, the transit bandwidth has increased from around 75Gbps to around 120Gbps today, but ICT minister repeated his pledge yesterday on April 14th, and announced they will increase international bandwidth to 700Gbps in the next 12 months. All and all, it's good news for endusers in Iran, even though they are experiencing probably the most harsh internet censorship apparatus on the planet, higher bandwidth means they can afford much more to mitigate bandwidth loss by circumvention technologies and have a usable internet connection at the end of the day.

آمار نت اندیکس نشاندهنده این است که در چند سال گذشته، کاربران اینترنت در ایران بطور فزاینده ای به پهنای باند بیشتر دسترسی داشته اند. این اخبار همینطور تایید کننده این است که بسیاری از شرکتهای ارایه دهنده خدمات اینترنت در ایران هم اکنون پهنای باندی تا حداکثر ۱۰ مگابیت در اختیار مشترکین خود قرار میدهند. رییس جمهور تکنوکرات ایران و وزیر ارتباطات در سال گذشته چندین بار قول افزایش پنهای باند را به مردم داده اند. تحقیقات ما نشان دهنده این است که پهنای باند کشوری از حدود ۷۵ گیگابیت از سال گذشته به حدود ۱۲۰ گیگابیت رسیده است و دیروز نیز در ۱۴ آپریل، وزیر ارتباطات یکبار دیگر اعلام کرد که پنهای باند ترانزیت کشور به ۷۰۰ گیگابیت ظرف ۱۲ ماه آینده برسد. همه اینها خبر های خوبی برای مشترکین اینترنت ایرانی است، و با وجود اینکه اینترنت در ایران احتمالا  پر سانسور ترین ارتباطات اینترنت در جهان است، پهنای باند بیشتر به مشترکین این اجازه را میدهد که بتوانند افت سرعت ناشی از ابزار های فیلترشکن را بیشتر تحمل کرده و اینترنت قابل استفاده تری داشته باشند.
